A Creative Marketing Approach
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY | My goal is to be a design chameleon, creating work that is absolutely specific to each client’s needs. There are many design languages; for each new project it is important to use a graphic language particular to the client and the audience we are trying to reach.
BACKGROUND | Over thirty years of experience designing consumer and trade publications as well as branding for clients such as Bennington College and Danforth Pewterers. Clients have ranged from nonprofits to educational institutions to e-commerce companies, including businesses that sell everything from bison to window blinds. Client list >

EXPERIENCE | I worked in New York until 1986, specializing in magazine design. I was part of the team that produced U&lc, the legendary magazine about fonts and design published for the International Typeface Corporation. For U&lc, I worked with Herb Lubalin, one of the fathers of modern typography and design, the creator of the font Avant Garde. Later, at Steve Philips Design, Inc., I worked with Writer’s Digest and Newsweek, Cook’s Magazine — precursor to Cook’s Illustrated — and for the Ms. Foundation. Also: The Artist’s Magazine, the Muppets, Mattel and others. Client list >
